The IDMAs are in, and once again Joel is among the nominees. This year, after 12 months of extensive international touring in 2011, deadmau5 is up for Best North American and Best Global DJ. His label mau5trap is also up for its first IDMA nomination; having been put forward for Best Global Record Label, a timely gesture as it currently enjoys iTunes and beatport chart success with Moguai’s “Mpire” album. Taken from rollingstone.com: “Roc Nation and Three Six Zero Group are teaming up to present a charity concert featuring performances from Rihanna, deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia at the House of Blues in Los Angeles.

Joel facebooked: “all proceeds will benefit the Children’s Orthopaedic Center and The Mark Taper–Johnny Mercer Artists Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. :)”

Tickets for the event will go for $1000 each, and will go on sale today at 5 p.m. PT. The bill will also include sets by Chris Lake and Michael Woods, but given that this show will be taking place on the same night as the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, there’s some possibility that other stars may turn up, either on stage or in the audience.

Amongst some of the most respected artists in the industry, deadmau5 firmly stakes his place in the Mixmag history books as the highest new placed entry at No.5. Mayor Carolyn Goodman has officially proclaimed January 2nd 2012 “deadmau5 Day” in the city of Las Vegas. Joel posted on facebook: “It’s deadmau5 day in Nevada. So I’m going to Nevada.”
